I recently concluded an eight-year stint at Discovery where I worked in social media across several brands, including Discovery Channel and Animal Planet. How I ended up where I am today is whole different story…

I entered college at Indiana University Bloomington with the notion of becoming the next Woodward or Bernstein, but a digital media internship my professional path forever. Spending a semester in New York as an intern for Marvel Entertainment, I cut my teeth writing for and maintaining Marvel.com, just before graduating with a degree in journalism. After spending two years as a reporter for a community newspaper in Montgomery County, Maryland, I eventually found myself at Discovery Communications (long before it became Discovery, Inc.), where my writing background helped me secure a job as a social media coordinator for Animal Planet in 2013. From then on, I spent the next eight years helping to maintain our multiple social media profiles/pages, writing and producing shortform and midform content, and managing the social media promotion of numerous shows, including Pit Bulls & Parolees and the Puppy Bowl. After a company reorg, Animal Planet joined Discovery and Science Channel as part of the company’s factual arm of networks, allowing me to work on other programs, like BattleBots, Moonshiners, Shark Week and more!
